Vicky Joe Hendrix

It is with profound sadness and respect that we announce the passing of Vicky Joe Hendrix, who departed this life on March 24, 2025, in Paris, Illinois, at the age of 79. Born on August 6, 1945, in Gallatin County, Illinois, to the late Cletus & Geraldean Hendrix. Vic lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for family.

Vicky's professional journey was centered around his exemplary career with British Petroleum, where he devoted 23 years to the pipeline industry, contributing his skills and expertise to the field. His commitment extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was also a proud Army veteran. This period in service instilled within him a sense of discipline and responsibility that he carried throughout his life.

In addition to his career and military service, Vic was a cherished member of the Ridgway American Legion, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and support for fellow veterans. His interests were varied yet simple, reflecting the character of a man who found joy in life’s little pleasures. He was an ardent baseball fan with a particular fondness for the St. Louis Cardinals. Whether he was enjoying an afternoon by the campfire, indulging in fishing—his favorite pastime—or piddling with tools, Vic found fulfillment in the company of nature and the warmth of his family.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Johnny Hendrix, Tim Cherry, and Greg Cherry, grandchildren, Chaz Cherry, Elizabeth Cherry, and Samantha Johnston, as well as his brother, Rannie Dale (Sandy) Hendrix. Vic was preceded in death by his wife Deanna Hendrix, his parents, Cletus and Geraldean Hendrix, and his sister, Diane Duckworth.

A graveside will be held Monday, April 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway, IL.
