Ruth Ann Jones

Ruth Ann Jones, age 83, passed on this life, March 23, 2022 in Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg after an extended illness. Ruth Ann was born in Eldorado, IL on January 22, 1939 to the late Randall and Ethel (Telbam) Thompson.

Ruth Ann was married to Bill Pfister first and then Leon O’Neal, both preceding her in death.  She was always a hard worker, raising her family with love and compassion, she was known for her seamstress ability as many depending on her for their sewing needs.  At age 40 she decided to go back to school and became a Registered Nurse working for over 25 years before retiring.  During her limited spare time, she loved to read but most importantly she loved to be with her family.  Ruth Ann always will be remembered as a kind a caring person, but most importantly a beloved Mother and Grandmother.

Ruth Ann is survived by, 3 sons, Mark (Tammy) Pfister of Washington, IN, Mike (Brenda) Pfister of McLeansboro, IL and Jim Bob (Tracey) O’Neal, of Golconda, IL.  4 daughters, Beth Pyle of Robertsdale, AL (Sam Pyle) of Ridgway, IL., Donna (Jack Jackson) Hesterly of Ridgway, IL, Lisa Rider of Ridgway, IL and Janice (Tom) Drone of Ridgway, IL. 3 Step Children, Robbie O’Neal, Debbie (Bill) Blankenship and Carla (Mark) Banks.  Grandchildren Michael Pfister, Matthew (Mackenzie) Pfister, Luke (Jenny) Pfister, Danielle (Jason) Carr, Andy (Dawn) Rider, Dylan Hesterly, Dustin Drone, Madelynn and Kaitlynn O’Neal, Kris (Bobby) Kuizenga, Kellie (Sergio) Martin, Kourtney (Caleb) Kuizenga and Kory Kuizenga.  Step Grandchildren, Katrina (Dean) Roberson, Wendy (Billy) Glenn, Ashley O’Neal, Adam O’Neal, Annie Schuman, Jennifer Blankenship and Brittany & Brandon Banks. 8 Great Grandchildren.

Visitation for Ruth Ann will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM.  Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Jason Sork officiating.  She will then be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery near Equality, IL next to her late husband Leon O’Neal.
