Robert R. Van Meter

Robert R. Van Meter, age 79 of Elizabethtown, IL died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 in the Community Living Center of the Marion VA Hospital. Bob as most knew him was born on November 5, 1933 in Corning, Kansas to the late Robert Van Meter and Bethel (Chilson) Van Meter. He served his country in the Navy during Korea from 1953 to 1957. He was retired from General Telephone of Illinois. He was a Methodist by faith.

Bob loved to ride horses and one of the reasons he moved near High Knob ranch. He was a kind person and will be missed by many.

He is survived by 2 sons, Dan Van Meter of Indiana and Robert B. Van Meter of Elizabethtown, Il. and 1 daughter, Lorianne Craverns of Westville, IL. 4 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. His special friend, Cora Petticrew of Westville, IL and his horse, Blackie. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild

Visitation for Bob will be on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Leamington Cemetery with military rites.
