Nina Mathews

June 2, 1935 — March 26, 2020

Nina H. Mathews, age 84, lifelong Gallatin County resident, passed on this life, on March 26, 2020 at her daughters’ home, surrounding by her family.  Nina was born on Sparks Hill in Hardin County, on June 2, 1935 to the late Alfred and Eula (Miles) Lane.  On September 13, 1956 she married the love of her life, Jim Mathews and he preceded her in 2004.

Nina was retired from Blevins Popcorn Plant in Ridgway.  She was an avid outdoors person all of her life, she loved to deer hunt, fish, do gardening but mostly love and take care of her family.  She has been a mother to many over the years from, leaving school her freshman year when her mother passed to raise her two sisters, Virginia and Linda.  She also took many others over the years always willing to help when people were in need.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by many.

Nina is survived by, a son, Steve (Kathy) Mathews of Elizabethtown, 2 daughters, Connie (Ronnie) Harrison of Herod, IL, and Patty (Jerry) Stacey of Elizabethtown. 9 Grandchildren, Cyndi (Dennis) Hahn, Branton Harrison, Matthew Harrison (Crystal Davis), Douglas Combs (Cassie Cummings), Joseph Stacey,  Katie (Albert) Keown, Kimberly (Dago) Valencia,  Kristina  (Jason) Winters, Kara Mathews. Great Grandchildren, Alexis (Troy) Szablewski, Makenzie Hahn (Chris Garcia)m Aiden & Arrianna Combs, Dawson and Avery Stacey, Treven and Kya Maier, Izik, Jafia, and Jonathan Valencia, Christian and Caitlyn Winters, Kendall Headlam and Serenity Downey. 1 brother, Hershel (Mary) Lane, 3 sisters, Virginia (Jerry) Mosby, Linda (Carroll) Berlin and Ina Riden.  She was preceded by her parents, husband and 6 brothers, Luther, Randall, Jim, Kenneth, Charles and Donald Lane.

Private Graveside services will be held at Hill Cemetery on Sunday, March 29, 2020, with Rev. Buddy Hubbard officiating.
