July 24, 1956 — July 15, 2019

Melissa G. Wilson, age 62, longtime resident of the Cottonwood community passed on this life peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019 in Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, IN surrounded by her family.

Melissa or “Aunt Lou”or "Lou Lou” as some called her was born in Harlan, KY on July 24, 1956 to Henry & Janice (Summers) Gross.  Melissa graduated from Ridgway High School.  She married the love of her life, Joe Wilson on August 22, 1973. Always happy and concerned for others, with a contagious smile. She loved to travel, go camping, read the Bible and listen to old Hymns.  Every Monday was Coffee Day and many of her family from children, siblings, nieces and nephews would come by and visit over a cup of coffee.  She was a God fearing woman, who lived it everyday and was the rock of the family.  She was a member of the Omaha General Baptist Church.  A loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be forever missed.

Melissa is survived by her husband Joe Wilson of Omaha, a son, Joey (Amy) Wilson of Norris City, IL, daughters, Misty (Gary) Jester and Rachael (Andy) Brown all of Omaha.  Her mother, Janice Gross of Omaha, 2 brothers, Mike (Connie) Gross of Ridgway and Henry (Lori) Gross of Omaha, 4 sisters, Sheila (Steve) Fals of Omaha, Pat (Dan) Stidman of Texas City, Libby (Mike) Brinkley of Omaha and Donna (Richard) Brinkley of Omaha. 9 Grandchildren, Natalie, Alissa, Blake, Nathaniel, Isaac, Bryce, Bailee, Brenden, and Callie.  She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Gross, 2 siblings, Wendell and Estelene Gross and her in laws, Ray and Betty Wilson.

Visitation will on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Omaha General Baptist Church in Omaha, from 4:00 PM o 8:00 PM.  Her funeral service will be on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the church starting at 11:00 AM.  Rev. Rick Strole and Rev. Blaine Felty will officiate and she will be laid to rest near her home in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Omaha General Baptist Church Building fund in her memory, envelopes will be available.  Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway is entrusted with her arrangements where you may leave a note of comfort to the family at www.coxandson.com
