Mary Lillian Wathen, age 88 of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa formerly of Ridgway, IL died on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Mary Lillian was born August 15, 1926 in Ridgway, IL to the late Andrew and Julia (Keane) Zirkelbach.

She was retired from Travelers Insurance as a policy processor. Mary Lillian was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant and was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a long time member of the VFW Auxillary and the Moose Lodge.

Mary Lillian was a very kind and caring person who had a deep faith for the church, love for music of all kinds, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother,
and friend. She will be missed by many.

Mary Lillian is survived by 3 sons, Patrick (Joyce) Wathen of Springfield, MO, Michael Wathen of Knoxville, Iowa and Timothy (Nancy) Wathen of Las Vegas, NV. 2 daughters, Janis (David) Kurtz of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Gale Ann (Christopher) Bittle of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

9 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter Stephanie and 5 brothers.

Visitation for Mary Lillian will be on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the St. Patricks Catholic Church, Ponds Settlement East of Ridgway starting at 9:30 AM. Her funeral mass will be at the church starting at 11:00 AM with Fr. Steven Beatty celebrating. Her interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Ridgway.
