John R. Whitten

John R. Whitten, age 83 longtime resident of Norris City, IL passed away at his home, Monday, January 05, 2009, after an extended illness. John was born in Norris City on November 22, 1925 to the late James Whitten & Lela (Heck) Whitten. He owned and operated Whitten Plumbing for many years until retirement. He served his country in World War II in the Army where he was a Tank Driver. John was a very compassionate and caring person who helped a lot of people in a very quiet way. He will be missed by the community.

He is survived by 1 Brother James E. Whitten of California.

Graveside service for John will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Norris City with Military Rites.
