Joan Uhlean

Joan C. Uhlean, age 65, of Ridgway passed on this life, May 10, 2018 in the Wabash Christian Center in Carmi.  Joan was born at Great Lakes Naval Base on December 11, 1952 to John and Joan (Boughman) Scheuerell.  She was married in 1977 to Tom Uhlean who survives.  Joan and Tom owned and operated TJ’s Bar in Ridgway for many years.  She enjoyed being in business because she loved people and made so many new friends.  She was always so generous to many, from making Thanksgiving dinner for those who had no place else to go, to helping sponsor Toys for Tots.

Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and was so funny.  She loved to Bowl and play Pool, was an animal lover as her pets were so important to her.   She had a contagious smile and really loved her family and friends.

Joan is survived by her husband Tom Uhlean, 2 daughters, Joan (David) Naraghi of Centralia, IL and Jenny Duncan of Watseka, IL, a son, Michael Uhlean of Blue Island, IL.  Her parents, John & Joan Scheuerell.  3 Brothers, John (Karen) Scheuerell, James Scheuerell and Joseph  (Ephine) Scheuerell.  Grandchildren, Samantha Uhlean, Lily, Parker and Julian Duncan and Daphne Minor.

Visitation for Joan will be on May 14, 2018 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Her funeral service will immediately follow starting at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Fields officiating.
