Janet L. Stalcup, age 75 of Galatia, passed on this life January 15, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Janet was born in Dekalb, IL on July 13, 1942 to the late Leonard and Bernice (Boulds) Drone. She was raised and spent a lot of her life in Ridgway. On September 21, 1963 she married Jim Stalcup who survives.
She was an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg. A member of the Church Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from the University of Illinois Home Extension. She loved to Cook, Camp, Sew and do crafts. She always had a smile for you and loved her grandkids. Her real passion was people, especially helping others, she help found the Food Pantry in Galatia, worked at Choisser Kitchen, the 4 C’s in Harrisburg and if anyone needed something she had they could have it. Janet had a beautiful soul, one that all of us need to be like. She was a good wife, loving mother and grandmother and wonderful sister. She will be missed
Janet is survived by her husband, Jim Stalcup of Galatia, a son Mike Stalcup of Galatia, and a daughter, Tiffany (Brian) Baird of Harco, IL. 5 grandchildren, Robert Ferrera, Jr., Ryan Stalcup, Amy Densch, Karson and Cayden Baird 4 Great Grandchildren. A brother, L. Pat (Darlene) Drone of Ridgway, a sister, Christine (Bill) Scherrer of Shawneetown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Ferrera
Visitation for Janet will be on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM where a Rosary will be said starting at 4:00 PM. Her funeral mass will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway at 11:00 AM. Fr. Steven Beatty and Monsignor Joe Lawler will concelebrate. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Galatia Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
