James W. ""Speck"" Wolf, age 71 of Shawneetown died peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 10, 2011 after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Speck as most knew him was born on April 6, 1940 near Lambtown just North of Cave In Rock to the late Alva and Anna (Milligan) Wolf. He was married on Jan. 10, 1966 to the love of his life, Charlene (Hite) Wolf who survives. Speck loved to be outside and around his family, he like to hunt for arrowheads but his real pastime was following the horse races. Speck was a good husband, brother, son and friend and will be missed.
Speck is survived by his wife, Charlene of Shawneetown, 2 Brothers, Leonard Wolf of Shawneetown and John Wolf of Clarksville, TN, 2 Sisters, Anna Vee Walker of Shawneetown and Helen ""Cricket"" Jansen of Vandalia, IL. He was also preceded in death by a brother Alva Wolf Jr, and a sister, Shelby Jean Baldwin.
Funeral service for Speck will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00AM until funeral time. Rev. Larry Lewis will officiate and interment will follow in the Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
