James J. Brugger

James (Jim) Joseph Brugger, 76, of Junction, passed away Saturday, February 17th, 2024 from pneumonia during a short stay in the hospital.

Jim was born at the Shawneetown hospital on February 8th, 1948 to parents Francis and Madelyn (Schoney) Brugger. He was married to Frances R Martin on February 18th, 1969, and enjoyed 45 years of marriage before her passing in 2014. He was a farmer, truck driver, mechanic, and in his youth a timber cutter/sawmill operator.

Jim is survived by 2 sons, Timothy and wife Catherine of Ft Worth, TX, and Daniel and wife Dessarae of Junction, IL, 5 grandchildren, Jade, Jessi, Jenna and husband Zach Moore, Jonathan, and Amanda and 1 great grandchild Montana. Also surviving is his brother Larry and wife Evelyn Brugger of Rosiclare, IL along with several nieces and numerous loving friends and families. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, and sister.

Visitation will be held at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown, IL on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 21st at 10:00 am at St Kateri Catholic Church also in Ridgway,IL. Fr. Vincent will celebrate. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery located in Shawneetown, IL.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and an extremely giving person. He will be missed dearly.
