Herschel Matt Matheney

Herschel D. ""Matt"" Matheney, age 84, of Ridgway but formerly of Herod, IL died peacefully in Harrisburg Medical Center surrounded by his family. Matt as most called him was born in Harrisburg on December 2, 1929 to the late George & Euna (Robinson) Matheney. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Air Force. He was a Mason and was a Past Master. He was retired from Ford Motor Company as an executive. He loved to fish, the outdoors, and really enjoyed his computer. His love for his family especially his Great Grandchildren always showed through.

Matt is survived by 2 daughters, Sheree (David) Evans of Harrison, TN, and Kelley Barnard of Jefferson City, MO, 2 sons, Steve and Mike Matheney of Shreveport, LA. 1 sister, Jackie Hicks of Junction, IL. 5 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Terry Matheney, 2 brothers, Eugene and Nova Matheney and a sister Audie Albright.

Visitation for Matt will be on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway where Masonic rites will be performed at 6:30PM. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harold Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Good Hope Cemetery with military rites.
