George D. Tudor, age 86, longtime Shawneetown resident, passed on this life on June 5, 2021 in the Gallatin Manor Nursing Center after an extended illness. George, as most knew him was born near Blackford, Kentucky on July 22, 1934.
While living in Blackford Kentucky growing up, he became a very good baseball player as a catcher. He was to go for tryouts with the Chicago White Sox, but went into the Army and served his country proudly. On March 17, 1967 he married the love of his life, Wilma (Satterfield) Tudor who preceded him in death in 2020.
George worked many years in the construction business in around coal mines as a superintendent. He always had incredible work ethic, loved to mow grass, walked many miles every day but mostly loved his family. He was a faithful member of the Shawneetown First Baptist Church. He will be missed.
George is survived by his sons, Donnie (Amanda) Tudor and George “Skip” Tudor, daughters, Georgia (Steve) Music, Vicki Tudor, and Bunnie Jo Lynn. Grandchildren, Jodie, Brock, Austin, Zac, Nyles, Riley and Sean and great grandchildren, Kinzer and Mara. A sister-in-law, Peggy Philips. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dixie McGraw and brother-in-law, Glen Phillips
Visitation for George will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. His funeral will immediately follow at the funeral home starting at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jack Hall officiating. He will be laid to rest in Westwood Cemetery with military rites.
