Genevieve Hutchison

July 22, 1919 — December 12, 2018

Genevieve Hutchison, age 99,  lifelong resident of rural Omaha, passed away peacefully on  December 12, 2018, in the Wabash Christian Village.  Genevieve was born near Omaha on July 22, 1919, to the late Jesse and Pearl (Rister) Ramsey.  Genevieve was married to Curtis Brockett on Feb. 4, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1961.  She later married David Milligan and Bob Hutchison who both also preceded her in death.  She was a beautician working from home for more than 50 years before retiring.

Genevieve was a lifelong member of the New Hope General Baptist church north of Ridgway.  She was a devoted Christian who lived her life for the Lord.  She loved her church, her family, and loved being “Nana” to all of her grandchildren.  Genevieve was truly from the greatest generation, and it showed in her faith, work ethic, and respect for others.   She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be missed by many.

Genevieve is survived by her son Don(Connie) Brockett of Omaha, daughter, Mary Beth (Richard) Sutton of Norris City and daughter, Susan (Jack) Jourdan of Evansville, IN, one sister, Wilma Harrington, eight grandchildren, Kurt Sutton, Kerry Sutton, Courtney Neal, Ben Brockett, Katie Seely, Beth Bowen, Jennifer Heuer, and Jessica Dulworth,  and 24 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lee Ramsey and Dr. Charles Ramsey, and a sister Lola Stoer-Field.

Funeral service for Genevieve will be Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the New Hope General Baptist Church starting at 12 Noon.  The family will receive friends at the church starting 10:00 AM.  Rev. Roger Hobbs will be officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Old Cottonwood cemetery.
