Edwin B. Bratcher, age 86 longtime resident of Ridgway passed on this life Tuesday, October 04, 2016 in the Hamilton County Hospital in McLeansboro. Ed was born in Philpot, Kentucky on September 13, 1930 to the late Roy and Ruby (Bailey) Bratcher.
On August 30, 1950 he married the love of his life, Shirley (Whitt) Bratcher who preceded him in death in 2015. Ed served his country in the United States Army during Korea. Ed worked his entire life in the Oil and Gas industry retiring from Consumer Gas Co. as the manager for Gallatin County for 25 years. He loved to Garden follow sports and during his retirement driving around the area seeing and visiting people. Ed was a member of the Ridgway First Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon for many years. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will be missed by many.
Ed is survived by 4 children. 2 Daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Waters of Evansville, In, and Gloria (John) Choate of Carmi. 2 Sons, Dale (Amy) Bratcher of Ridgway and Kevin (Melinda) Bratcher of Carmi. He is also survived by a brother Charlie Bratcher of Philpot, Ky and 7 Grandchildren, Brandy (Lee) Zeller, Adam, Bailey and Lauren Bratcher, Jason and Tyler Choate, and Carrie Kraemer. 1 Great Grandchild, Madeline Lazich. Ed is preceded in death by 5 siblings.
Visitation for Ed will be on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. His funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with Rev. Mike Fields officiating. Interment will be in the Jackson Cemetery in Ridgway with military rites
Memorial contributions can be made in Ed’s memory to the Ridgway Golden Circle or the Ridgway First Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
