Doris June Hill, age 77, of Eldorado, IL but longtime resident of Omaha passed away Monday evening April 15, 2008 at her home after an extended illness.
Doris was born in McLeansboro on June 30, 1930 to the late Harry and Mary (Thompson) Mayberry. Doris was married to the late Lawrence Hill who preceded her in death in 1996.
Doris worked for many years at the Sewing factory in Carmi and retired from working at the Pearce Hospital in Eldorado, IL. She was a member of the Christ Gospel Church in Evansville, IN. Doris or Mom, Nana, Ninny or Grams as the family called her was a good mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a very religious and praying woman. She always had a kind word and a smile for you. She will be greatly missed.
Doris is survived by Son - Charles (Debra) Hill of Tulsa OK, Son - Carl Hill of Baltimore, MD, Daughter - Sharon (Robert) Pilkington of Danville, IL, 3 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and 2 Sisters - Dorothy McMahon of Broughton, IL and Wanda Hill of Norris City, Il. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 Brothers Ralph, Doyle, and Wilson Mayberry, and 2 Sisters, Opal Phelps and Oma Burgess.
Visitation for Doris will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, IL from 5 to 8 PM and the Funeral to be Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Cox and Son Funeral Home starting at 2 PM. Rev. Don Townsend, Rev. Sharon Spicer, and Rev. Richard Stiles will officiate and interment will be in New Prospect Cemetery near Norris City.
