David W. Wilson, age 76, longtime Shawneetown, IL resident, passed on this life peacefully, February 24, 2018 in Ferrell Hospital. He was surrounded by his family when the illness he had fought so hard took his life. Dave as most knew him was born in Crossville, TN on December 28, 1941 to the late Joe and Edith (Wyatt) Wilson. He was married to Julie (Burns) who survives.
Dave worked most of his life outside, from mowing lawns, cutting trees or working at the saw mill, in Kentucky, he always worked hard. He loved to visit with friends, play scratch off tickets, and always had a kind word and smile for you. Dave had a wonderful heart and would help anyone. He will be missed by many.
Surviving Dave is a brother, Carl and Loreta Wilson of Eldorado, a sister, Carolyn and Bob Jarman of Norris City, IL, a longtime special friend, Mary Cook of Ridgway, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded also by 2 brothers, Ivan Wilson and Joe Wilson, 3 sisters, Ann Kilgore, Betty Hayes, Helen Suits
Visitation for Dave will be on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM. Rev. Mike Rushing will officiate and he will be laid rest in Westwood Cemetery.
