Clark E. Bentley, age 86, longtime Old Shawneetown resident, passed on this life, September 10, 2020 at his home after an extended illness. Clark was born in Colony, Kansas on December 4, 1933 to the late Frances and Edith (Guffey) Bentley. He served his country during Korea in the U.S. Navy.
Clark was known for his uncanny story telling and his beautiful artistic ability. He could paint portraits, build replicas of buildings, and was very well read. He traveled all over the world and was one of the workers that built the Caterpillar facility near Peoria. He loved his family and will be missed.
Clark is survived by his daughter, Laura Bentley Henson of Old Shawneetown, 5 grandchildren, a sister , Myrna Groover of Canton, IL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded by a daughter, Andre Wade
Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. His graveside funeral will immediately follow at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Monsignor Joe Lawler will preside. He will then be laid to rest next to his mother.
